We study the development and plasticity of neural circuits, with a focus on the auditory brainstem pathways used in sound localization. Our research investigates the roles of glial cells and molecular factors in the formation and maturation of circuits. Developmental mechanisms are often reinstated after injury. We are studying the extent to which these mechanisms facilitate recovery after damage to the central nervous system.
