Each year, we host the Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC) Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (MI3) summer interns at the UCI CNLM for hands-on neuroscience demonstrations, lab tours and neuroscience career panels. This year the interns visited virtually from the comfort of their homes! A group of 9 CNLM Ambassadors led by the K-12 Programming committee chairs engaged nearly 60 interns in a morning of neuroscience fun! The event began with a mini lesson on the anatomy of a neuron followed by a demonstration of how neurons communicate with one anther using the Backyard Brains Human-Human Interface. The interns then had the opportunity to chat with the science mentors and ask questions about the path to neuroscience, the various careers in neuroscience, the differences between MD and PhD degrees and the life of a scientist. Thank you, CHOC MI3 interns for visiting the UCI CNLM!
