Neurociencia
Este libro es producto de Neurobridges, el resultado de una colaboración entre el Centro de Aprendizaje y Memoria de la Universidad de California en Irvine y Neuroboricuas, una organización sin fines de lucro basada en Puerto Rico. Neuroboricuas fue desarrollado por investigadores científicos y educadores puertorriqueños, comprometidos con fomentar la educación y la investigación en neurociencias en las escuelas de Puerto Rico con el propósito de entrenar a la próxima generación de científicos en la isla.
“Neurociencia en arroz y habichuelas” fue creado como parte de la Semana de Concientización del Cerebro Marzo 10 a Marzo 16 del 2025, subvencionado por la Dana Foundation; una organización sin fines de lucro que promueve la conciencia pública sobre los avances en neurociencia y su impacto social, difundiendo información sobre el cerebro de manera comprensible y accesible.
This book is a product of Neurobridges, the result of a collaboration between the Center for Learning and Memory at the University of California, Irvine, and Neuroboricuas, a nonprofit organization based in Puerto Rico. Neuroboricuas was developed by Puerto Rican scientific researchers and educators committed to promoting neuroscience education and research in Puerto Rican schools with the goal of training the next generation of scientists on the island.
"Neuroscience in Rice and Beans" was created as part of Brain Awareness Week, March 10–16, 2025, with a grant from the Dana Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes public awareness of advances in neuroscience and their social impact by disseminating information about the brain in an understandable and accessible way.
¿Quiénes somos?
Este librito fue creado en colaboración entre el Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory (CNLM) de UC Irvine, el programa NeuroBridges y la organización NeuroBoricuas. Juntos, queremos que la ciencia del cerebro sea más divertida, accesible y representativa en Puerto Rico. La oficina de extensión y educación de la CNLM, dirigido por la Dra. Manuella Oliveira Yassa, se dedica a hacer que la neurociencia sea interesante e inclusiva para todos. NeuroBridges, cofundado por la estudiante graduada Gimarie Irizarry Martínez, conecta a estudiantes puertorriqueños con oportunidades educativas, experienciales y de mentoría en neurociencia en UC Irvine y más allá. NeuroBoricuas, fundado por el Dr. Christian Bravo Rivera, que lleva la neurociencia a las comunidades y universidades de todo Puerto Rico. ¡Creemos que hay espacio para todos en la ciencia del cerebro!
This booklet was created in collaboration between the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory (CNLM) at UC Irvine, the NeuroBridges program, and the NeuroBoricuas organization. Together, we want to make brain science more fun, accessible, and representative in Puerto Rico. The CNLM's Office of Outreach and Education, led by Dr. Manuella Oliveira Yassa, is dedicated to making neuroscience engaging and inclusive for everyone. NeuroBridges, co-founded by graduate student Gimarie Irizarry Martínez, connects Puerto Rican students with educational, experiential, and mentoring opportunities in neuroscience at UC Irvine and beyond. NeuroBoricuas, founded by Dr. Christian Bravo Rivera, brings neuroscience to communities and universities throughout Puerto Rico. We believe there's room for everyone in brain science!
