Dr. Kate Wassum's lab is investigating the neural signals and circuits that underlie reward learning, motivation, and decision making so that they can capitalize on this information to understand and treat the maladaptive motivation and decision making that characterizes substance use disorder and psychiatric diseases. Dr. Wassum's lab takes a multidisciplinary approach to research, combining behavioral procedures rooted in learning theory with advanced neural recording, interference, and/or molecular methods.
